Mothers and Daughters a lesbian bar News

This post is also available in: Nederlands Français

Mothers & Daughters will be opening in the centre of Brussels during May and June of 2018!

Mothers & Daughters is:

A bar,
An art space,
A safe,
Inclusive,
Feminist,
Queer,
Lesbian place
—run by lesbians for lesbians and their friends.

It is a community project—a tender, political gesture that addresses the lack of a safer space for the lesbian community in and around Brussels, to gather and celebrate.

Does this sound like music to your ears? Or does this sound like a dream come true? Then help them make it happen!

They are reaching out to all of you because they need some financial support, to ensure they can cover the rent of the space. They need €5000 to secure the basis of this project and fully focus on the organization of awesome events.

This is not a commercial project—they are committed to keeping the entry to Mothers & Daughters free and open to all, to offering a much-needed safe space and special events without the pressure of making profit. Your donation will make that possible! Mothers & Daughters will be a place for Brussels’ locals and visitors, and also to be appreciated internationally.

Background:

Mothers & Daughters will be the only bar in Brussels aimed at lesbians and their friends. Mothers & Daughters honours a previous generation, who defined lesbian culture, and it’s a tribute to precious and precarious lesbian bars everywhere.

The bar had its first trial run for three nights in December 2017 at the Beursschouwburg in Brussels. The response was unbelievable! In 2018 they are back with a bigger team, longer opening hours, music, new drinks, free events, and so many hugs.

Their team:
Byrthe Lemmens
Delphine von Kaatz
Jessica Gysel
Joëlle Sambi
Katja Mater
Marnie Slater
Robin Brettar
